When you call CJ Forestry Mulching, you get Calvin. He is the owner and the operator, and he runs the jobs himself. That keeps things simple. The person who walks your property and hears what you want is the same person in the cab when the work starts. Nothing gets lost between an estimator and a crew. If you said the big pine by the gate stays, he is the one who remembers it.

Every job starts on foot. Calvin walks the land with you before he gives an estimate, and the estimate is free. He looks at how thick the growth is, how the ground lies, where the wet spots are and how the machine gets in. You point out the trees to keep and the lines to follow. By the end of the walk you both know what the job is and what the ground will look like afterward.

The work itself is forestry mulching: a tracked loader, a mulching head, one machine and one pass. Brush, saplings and small trees are ground into mulch where they stand. There are no burn piles, no brush piles and nothing trucked off. The mulch stays down to hold the soil and slow regrowth. Clearing is selective, so the trees you want are left standing. We handle eight kinds of clearing, from trails and fence lines to building lots and hunting land.

We work all year across St. Louis, Lake, Carlton, Pine, Aitkin and Itasca counties, and that includes cutting trails and lanes in the snow.
