Land Clearing in Virginia

Clearing Land Around Virginia

Virginia is the hub of the east Range, with Mountain Iron, Eveleth and Gilbert all close by. Between the towns and the pits lies a patchwork of private woods, old homesteads and recreational parcels. Forestry mulching in Virginia fits the way people use that land. Nobody wants a bare lot. They want a place they can walk, ride and hunt, with the brush gone and the timber standing. A mulching head takes out the understory and leaves pine, spruce and birch alone. Our forestry mulching page covers the method in detail.

Plenty of the need here is plain cleanup. An inherited property that sat for a long time. A lot at the edge of town where the brush has reached the garage. A rental with a back yard nobody can get into. Brush and underbrush clearing handles those in short order, and there is no pile left for the owner to deal with. Mulch covers the ground and slows what comes back. If you plan to build or sell, clearing first lets people see the lot instead of guessing at it.

What We Clear In Virginia

North toward Britt and beyond, the country turns to lakes, bogs and big woods. Cabin owners and hunters up that way need trails more than anything. A mulched trail to the lake, to the deer stand or around the back of the property gets used every weekend. We cut them to the width you want and curve them around the trees worth keeping. See trails and access for details. All of this is inside St. Louis County, and we run jobs there in every season, snow included.

Questions

Virginia Questions

I inherited overgrown land near Virginia. Where do I start?

Start by finding the corners. Once you know the boundaries, call us and Calvin will walk it with you. Often the first job is just a trail in and a small clearing so you can see what is there. You can add more later once you know how you want to use the place.

Does the mulch left behind cause problems on Virginia area lots?

No. It is shredded wood, spread out where the brush stood. It protects bare soil from washing, holds moisture and breaks down over a few seasons. Grass and low plants come up through it. If you want lawn right away, plan on raking out the thickest spots before you seed.

Can you clear land in St. Louis County when there is snow on the ground?

Yes. We run through the winter. Cold weather firms up swampy ground, the bugs are gone and the leaves are off, so sight lines are good. Very deep snow can hide stubs and rock, so the machine works a little slower. For trails and lanes, winter is often the easiest season.
