Land Clearing Across Pine County

Pine County stretches a long way north to south along the interstate, and it changes as you go. The south around Pine City is farmland, hardwoods and small acreages. The middle around Hinckley and Sandstone is sandy pine and popple country cut by the Kettle River. East of the freeway, state forest and state park land run out toward the St. Croix. The north end near Willow River and Sturgeon Lake has lakes and cabins. Land clearing in Pine County means something different in each part. We bring the same land clearing approach to all of them.

If one kind of property stands out, it is recreational land. A lot of the county's woods is owned by people who hunt it a few weekends a year and want it to work better. They start with trails, then lanes, then openings. We do all three under hunting land clearing and trails and access. Sandy soil across the middle of the county makes for firm footing, so these jobs can happen in most seasons. Low ground along the creeks still waits for dry weather or frost.

Farms and small acreages make up the rest. In the south, invasive brush like buckthorn has moved into woodlots and fencerows, and mulching is a quick way to knock it down. Read our buckthorn guide before you start so you know about regrowth. Field edges, pasture corners and overgrown yards are common needs too, and brush and underbrush clearing covers them. Along the Kettle, Snake and St. Croix rivers, special river and shoreland rules can apply. Pine County zoning is the place to ask. Our service area page shows where we go.

Questions

Pine County Questions

Do you cover the whole length of Pine County?

Yes, from Rock Creek and Pine City in the south up through Hinckley, Sandstone, Finlayson and Willow River to Sturgeon Lake, and east to Askov, Bruno and Kerrick. Pine County is the southern edge of our service area. We do not go past it, but everything inside the county line is covered.

I own hunting land in Pine County but live out of town. How does that work?

Easily. Set a walk-through for a weekend you plan to be at the property. Calvin meets you there, you mark what you want, and he gives you a free estimate. The work itself does not need you on site. We send photos when it is finished so you know what you are coming back to.

Are there special rules for clearing near the Kettle or St. Croix rivers?

There can be. Both are protected rivers, and land along them may fall under stricter rules than ordinary shoreland. We do not interpret those rules. Before clearing anything near the bank or bluff, call Pine County zoning or the DNR with your parcel number and ask what is permitted.
